Why Odyssey exists
Odyssey was created because we believe support at home should feel personal, reassuring and genuinely caring. We do not believe in ‘tick box care’.
For many families, needing extra support is not something planned. It often comes from noticing small changes, or realising you cannot always be there as much as you would like to be.
Odyssey exists to support people to continue living comfortably and confidently in their own homes, while giving families reassurance that someone trusted is there when they cannot be.
Our story
Founded in Canvey Island, Essex, Odyssey was established in 2025 by Hannah O’Reilly.
Odyssey grew from Hannah’s understanding of how challenging it can be to support someone you love while balancing work, family and everyday life. It is something many families find themselves navigating, often without warning, and it can feel overwhelming at times.
Hannah is a Registered Nurse with over 15 years’ experience, specialising in frailty and dementia care. Through her career, she has supported individuals and families through different stages of support, seeing first-hand how important it is for care to feel calm, consistent and genuinely personal.
Today, Odyssey is built around a carefully selected team who share the same values and approach to support. Every companion is chosen not only for their experience, but for their kindness, reliability and ability to build real, trusted relationships.
Alongside this, our nurse-led approach ensures there is always experienced guidance behind the support we provide. Our companions spend regular time with the people they support, meaning they are often the first to notice if something feels a little different. If needed, our nurse can step in, visit and help us understand if any extra support or advice might be needed.
Odyssey was created to offer warm, reliable home support that helps people continue to live comfortably and confidently in their own homes, while giving families reassurance that their loved one is supported by a trusted, consistent team.
The reassurance behind our support
Being nurse-led does not mean support feels clinical. It means there is experience, understanding and reassurance behind everything we do.
We notice the small changes early, helping families feel more confident about what is happening day to day. That reassurance is always offered in a way that feels respectful, familiar and natural.
Being local also matters to us. Families know who they are dealing with, clients see familiar faces, and support feels consistent and reassuring. We believe trust is built over time, through reliability, kindness and simply being there when it matters.
Time, Support should help people feel confident, respected and comfortable in their own home. Never rushed. Never impersonal. and company
Dignity
We support people to continue doing the things that matter to them, stepping in only where help is needed.
Independence
Real companionship
Time, conversation and connection matter just as much as practical help.
Caring for someone you love can feel heavy. We are here to support families as well as the people we visit.
